Why I'm running

I'm running for Congress because I believe the number one issue our nation faces is the national debt.  Currently, the national debt totals approximately $14.2 Trillion.  This doesn't account for the approximately $65 Trillion in unfunded liabilities.

Republicans and Democrats have in tandem provided us huge (and growing) government, foreign wars, and serious violations of our civil liberties. This trend of poor policy making will continue unless another option is available.  The good news is there's another option...

Libertarians want more fiscal restraint and less government. In following this philosophy, we can get our fiscal house in order BUT it takes true leadership.  Both the Republican and Democratic parties have led our nation down this very dangerous path.  This is why I am a Libertarian!

As your candidate, I promise to be a responsible fiscal steward of YOUR tax dollars by taking a comprehensive approach to our growing deficit problem.

The Libertarian Party is America's third-largest political party. This year, hundreds of Libertarians will be running for President and Congress, all the way down to city councils and small local offices.

Please read about some of my issue positions.

This November, please vote for fiscal discipline: vote Matthew Solodow for Congress.
More freedom, less government
No more bailouts
End foreign wars
End the war on drugs
Shut down federal departments
